Child support payments
As a parent, you are obliged to make a contribution to your children’s expenses, even if you are about to divorce. This obligation continues until the children are 21 years old. The child support payment depends on your income during the marriage, what the children actually need and what amount you can pay. The government has developed tables – the ‘Nibud’ tables – to let you fix this amount reasonably straightforwardly, by letting you work out what the children actually cost, based on your and your partner’s income.
