Eelco Anink studied notarial law at the University of Amsterdam after a commercial career in the financial sector. During his studies he became fascinated by family (property) law. In addition to his studies he worked at an international law and notary firm. In addition, he did scientific work as a student assistant in the field of matrimonial property and inheritance law. He received an honorable mention for his thesis on cohabitants.
After his studies, he taught Personal, Family and Inheritance Law at the University of Amsterdam and was a candidate civil-law notary for a short time. He is a passionate, result- and solution-oriented lawyer. He combines decisiveness with great empathy for the personal story of his clients. He quickly sees the bigger picture and works tactfully and diplomatically. In addition to fluent English, he speaks good Portuguese because he lived in Brazil for a long time.
Eelco handles complex divorce and inheritance law cases and regularly litigates. He is a lawyer and mediator affiliated with the Association of Family and Inheritance Law Attorneys and Divorce Mediators (vFAS). Eelco graduated summa cum laude from the postgraduate specialization course in family law. He is also a member of the specialist Association of Inheritance Law Attorneys Netherlands (VEAN), of which he is also a board member. Eelco also publishes on relationship property law and inheritance law. For example, he co-wrote the Compendium of Inheritance Law and has published various articles in legal journals. He also teaches inheritance law at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and provides postgraduate education to lawyers, civil-law notaries and tax specialists in the field of relationship property law and inheritance law.
Eelco has registered in the legal areas register of the Dutch Bar Association (NOvA) in the following main and sub-areas of law:
• Inheritance law;
• Personal and family law, including:
– Divorces, alimony cases and visitation arrangements
– Private international law
– Mediation
– Parenthood and recognition
Based on this registration, he is obliged to obtain ten training credits each calendar year in each registered main area of law in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
